# Standard Features
ARCO ArCo (Architecture of Knowledge) is the Italian Cultural Heritage knowledge graph, comprising seven interconnected ontologies that model cultural properties at a fine-grained level. It encodes data from the General Catalogue of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities (MiBAC) as RDF, totaling 169 million triples describing over 800 000 cultural entities. Key functionality of the Metadata Element Set is to provide administrative type of metadata, curatorial type of metadata, technical type of metadata, preservation of metadata and use type of metadata.
DC Dublin Core (DC) is an international metadata standard maintained by the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI). It comprises a core set of 15 elements—such as title, creator, subject, and date—designed to be simple, optional, and repeatable, facilitating resource discovery across digital environments. Widely adopted in libraries, archives, and web content management systems, it underpins metadata‐driven search, cataloguing, and digital preservation efforts.
MMD MusicBrainz XML Metadata Format (MMD) is an XML-based schema designed to represent music metadata in a human-readable, powerful, and extensible way. As the official successor to an earlier RDF format, MMD underpins the MusicBrainz XML API, modeling core entities such as artists, releases, tracks, and their respective lists.
ICCD ICCD (Istituto Centrale per il Catalogo e la Documentazione) is the Central Institute for Cataloguing and Documentation of Italian cultural heritage, operating under the Ministry of Culture (MiC) as an autonomous scientific body.It oversees SIGeCweb, the General Information System of the Catalogue containing over 2.7 million records, and preserves photographic archives, including the Photographic Cabinet and Aerophototeca. ICCD also publishes XML schemas and linked-data mappings to ensure interoperability across cultural heritage institutions.
ICCD-BDM ICCD-BDM (Scheda BDM – Beni demoetnoantropologici materiali) is the Italian Ministry of Culture’s official cataloguing standard for tangible demo-ethno-anthropological heritage, first released by the Istituto Centrale per il Catalogo e la Documentazione (ICCD) in 2000 and currently in version 4.00. The model organizes descriptive metadata into a hierarchical structure of paragraphs, fields, and subfields, supporting repeatable sections and conditional elements for detailed documentation.
ICCD-OA ICCD-OA (Scheda OA – Opera e oggetto d’Arte 3.00) is the Italian Ministry of Culture’s standard content model for cataloguing works and art objects, published by the Istituto Centrale per il Catalogo e la Documentazione (ICCD). Scheda OA 3.00 is organized into 18 paragraphs encompassing 39 structured fields and 160 subfields, covering identification (including the national unique code NCT formed by NCTR and NCTN), morphological and typological description, subjects, chronology, authorship, legal and custodial status, sources, and notes.
ICCD-NU ICCD-NU (Scheda NU – Numismatica 3.00) is the Italian Ministry of Culture’s official model for cataloguing numismatic heritage, issued by the Istituto Centrale per il Catalogo e la Documentazione (ICCD) in 2003. It defines elements such as unique NCT identifiers, typology, iconography, materials and techniques, inscriptions, measurements, monetary and historical context, conservation status, provenance, and inter-object relationships.
ISWC (CISAC) ISWC (International Standard Musical Work Code – ISO 15707:2001) is the ISO-approved system for assigning globally unique identifiers to musical works, administered by CISAC, the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers. Adopted by composers, publishers, broadcasters, and rights societies, ISWC complements the ISRC for recordings by focusing solely on works, streamlining licensing and royalty collection.
SBN/ISBD (ICCU) SBN/ISBD (ICCU) is the Italian implementation by the Istituto Centrale per il Catalogo Unico (ICCU) of the International Standard Bibliographic Description (ISBD) within the National Library Service (Servizio Bibliotecario Nazionale, SBN). ICCU translated the consolidated ISBD edition into Italian (Nov 2012), issuing guidelines for structured bibliographic records in the SBN union catalogue. The standard defines nine areas — from content form and carrier (Area 0) through title, edition, publication, physical description, series, notes, to resource identifiers — with fixed punctuation to ensure consistency and interoperability across libraries.
